Ghaziabad Battles Floods: 55 Families Rescued as Yamuna and Hindon Swell

Ghaziabad is currently grappling with a severe flood situation, prompting emergency rescue operations and diligent monitoring of critical areas. As the waters of the Yamuna River continue to rise dangerously, authorities have successfully evacuated 55 families from several affected villages in the Loni tehsil.

These families, residing in communities such as Bhaudi, Hasanpur, and Supa, were at immediate risk and have been relocated to safer, temporary shelters established in primary schools in Pavi and Supa.

The joint efforts of the district administration, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Ghaziabad Police, and the fire department have been instrumental in this large-scale rescue mission.

Senior officials, including District Magistrate Inder Vikram Singh and Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra, personally visited the flood-hit regions to oversee the operations and ensure prompt assistance. Essential supplies such as food packets, drinking water, and other necessities are being distributed to the displaced families, providing crucial relief during this challenging time.

A primary concern remains the continuous monitoring of the Yamuna's embankment, particularly in vulnerable areas like Akhanagar.

Authorities are vigilant, checking for any breaches or weaknesses that could exacerbate the flooding. The situation is further complicated by the rising water levels in the Hindon River, a tributary of the Yamuna. This has led to significant waterlogging in localities adjacent to the Hindon, including Karhera and Ataur Nagla, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing crisis.

Residents in low-lying areas and those close to the riverbanks are advised to remain alert and follow all instructions issued by the local administration.

The combined threat from both rivers necessitates a cautious approach, and emergency response teams are on high alert, ready to respond to any further developments. The district administration reassures the public of its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all affected residents.
