Free Hearing & Vision Screenings for Homeschoolers in Genesee County

If you’re homeschooling or teaching your child virtually in Genesee County, there’s good news on the radar: the county health department is offering free hearing and vision screenings. The event is set for Wednesday, July 29, 2026, and the doors will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:45 p.m.

Families with students who are three years old or older are welcome to drop by the GCHD Administrative Offices at 324 South Saginaw Street in Flint. While walk‑ins are accepted, the department does recommend calling ahead or emailing to lock in a time slot, especially if you’re hoping to avoid the midday rush.

“Our goal is to spot any hearing or vision issues early, before they start to affect a child’s learning, communication, or social development,” said a spokesperson for the Genesee County Health Department.
