Fire Tears Through North Stamford Home, Displacing Family and Pet

It was a terrifying start to Monday morning for a family in North Stamford when a fierce house fire erupted, engulfing their Chestnut Hill Road home in flames. The blaze, which tore through the residence in the early hours, has sadly left three individuals and their beloved dog displaced, their lives upended in an instant.

The alarm was first raised around 3 a.m., shattering the quiet pre-dawn hours of August 31, 2026. According to the Stamford Fire Department (SFD), the call quickly brought a robust response to the scene. Firefighters from Engine Company 8, Engine Company 9, Rescue Company 1, and Engine Company 7 rushed to confront the growing inferno.

Upon arrival, crews were met with a harrowing sight: a 1.5-story home significantly involved, with heavy fire, smoke, and water damage already taking its toll. The flames, unforgiving as they often are, had spread aggressively, impacting a screened porch, the kitchen, the family room, and even extending into the attic space. It's truly heartbreaking to imagine the devastation.

Given the intensity of the fire, it quickly became clear that additional hands were needed.
