Fake PMO ID, Armed Guard Nabbed at Modi’s Mumbai Event

On September 7, a stir unfolded at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai’s Bandra‑Kurla Complex. The venue was buzzing because Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to attend a high‑profile event, and security was understandably tight.

Against that backdrop, a young man, apparently 24 years old, slipped through the crowd flaunting an identification card that claimed he worked for the Prime Minister’s Office. The badge, however, turned out to be a clever forgery – the kind that looks convincing at first glance but falls apart under a second look.

Right beside him was a stout bodyguard, casually cradling a pistol. When the police stopped them for a routine check, the guard’s weapon was recovered on the spot. The officer in charge described the scene as “a textbook case of a security breach that could have turned serious.”

Both individuals were immediately taken into custody. The Mumbai Police logged a formal case against the impostor and his armed aide, and the matter has now been handed over to the Crime Branch for a deeper probe. Officials say they are examining how the fake ID made its way into the system and whether anyone else was involved.

While the incident was swiftly contained, it serves as a stark reminder that even the most guarded events can face infiltration attempts. The police have reassured the public that security measures are being reviewed and reinforced to prevent any repeat of such episodes.
