Envision Energy Powers Australia’s Largest Wind Turbines at Neoen’s Narrogin Farm

On a sunny July morning in Sydney, Envision Energy announced a landmark deal that will see its biggest wind turbines yet roll out across Western Australia. The company is set to deliver 23 EN182‑7.8 MW units for Neoen’s 179‑megawatt Narrogin Wind Farm, a project that promises to light up about 100,000 homes and shave roughly 3 % off the state’s annual electricity demand.

The EN182 turbines are something of a show‑stopper: each one sports a 155‑metre hub height and a massive 182‑metre rotor span. In other words, they’re the tallest and widest turbines ever installed on Australian soil – a clear signal that the country is stepping up its renewable‑energy game.

“This isn’t just another turbine supply contract,” said Kane Xu, Senior Vice‑President and President of the International Product Line at Envision Energy. “Our EN182 combines cutting‑edge digital controls with a robust design, ready to deliver reliable power in the tough conditions of the Australian outback.”

Neoen, the French‑based renewable‑energy developer behind the project, welcomed the partnership. “Working with Envision gives us confidence that the Narrogin site will reach its full potential quickly and efficiently,” noted Jean‑Christophe Cheylus, Neoen’s Regional CEO for Australia‑Pacific.

Beyond the turbines themselves, the deal includes a 30‑year operations‑and‑maintenance agreement, meaning Envision will keep the blades turning long after the first gust hits. The construction phase will be driven by local giants UGL and CPB Contractors, both part of the CIMIC Group, ensuring that Australian expertise stays at the heart of the build.

Connecting the wind farm to Western Power’s 220‑kV transmission line, the project will become the first grid‑connected wind farm in Australia supplied by Envision for a commercial client. The farm sits on land owned by the Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation, with strong backing from the WA government and the state’s main electricity distributor, Synergy.

It’s also Envision’s second Australian wind venture in just twelve months – the first being a 17‑turbine installation in the Pilbara region. The rapid rollout underscores how quickly the renewable sector is scaling up, and how companies are racing to bring bigger, smarter machines to market.

When the turbines finally spin, they’ll not only generate clean energy, but also send a clear message: Australia is ready for wind power at the highest possible standards.
