Edmonton Man Charged After Traffic Stop on Enoch Cree Nation

On the evening of August 30, around 5:15 p.m., officers from the Enoch RCMP Detachment pulled a car over because its left‑hand headlight was completely burned out. It was a routine safety stop that quickly turned into something far more serious.

During the search, police uncovered a stash that included roughly nine grams of what appears to be cocaine and about four grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine. Scattered among the drugs were several small distribution bags, two scales and a handful of other items commonly used to package and sell illegal substances.

The driver, a 52‑year‑old man who lives in Edmonton and who is not a member of the Enoch Cree Nation, was immediately charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. He is slated to appear before a court in St. Albert on December 23 to answer to the charge.

In addition to the criminal charge, the man was hit with a $1,000 trespassing ticket issued by Enoch Cree peace officers and has been barred from setting foot on Enoch Cree Nation lands indefinitely. “This enforcement action highlights the continued efforts of Enoch RCMP and Enoch peace officers to proactively address criminal activity and help keep Enoch Cree Nation safe,” said Sgt. Warren Munro in the department’s release.
