The immediate aftermath was one of chaos and fear.

Residents described the terrifying moments as the ground convulsed beneath them, sending structures swaying violently before many succumbed to the powerful vibrations. Initial reports confirmed seven injuries, which tragically rose to at least 14 according to local media accounts.
