One such hero was Lesley Tomlinson, a runner out enjoying her morning routine. When she saw the vehicle in the water and the occupants needing help, she didn't hesitate for a second. Drawing on her past lifeguard experience, Lesley dove into the chilly water to assist the passenger, a truly courageous act of selflessness. But she wasn't alone in her incredible response. Another woman, whose identity hasn't been widely shared, quickly pulled over her car, jumped out, and also entered the water, first helping the driver and then the passenger. And let's not forget the sharp-thinking neighbour from a nearby house who quickly dialed 911, ensuring professional help was on its way.

Ottawa paramedics were on scene quickly, assessing both individuals involved in the crash. Thankfully, after such a harrowing ordeal, neither required a trip to the hospital – a testament to their own resilience and the prompt assistance they received. Ottawa Fire Services also responded, ready to assist with any further rescue or recovery operations.
