Driver Plunges Into Detroit River After Dingell Park Fence Collapse

Around midday on Thursday, a sedan careened straight through the chain‑link fence that runs along the Detroit River at Dingell Park. The impact sent the vehicle tumbling over the edge and into the water below.

Witnesses on the nearby Riverside Coney Island boardwalk swear they saw it happen in real time. “I was looking out the window and saw a car just jump into the river,” said Brisa Stolarzuk, who works at a nearby café. “At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.”
