Dramatic Dawn Bust: Barrie Police Recover Stolen Vehicle, Uncover Loaded Revolver and Drugs, Three Arrested

The streets of Barrie saw an intense early morning operation this past Sunday, May 26th, as police swiftly moved to address a report of a stolen vehicle. What began as a routine call quickly escalated into a significant bust, revealing a dangerous cache of weapons and illicit substances, and leading to the arrest of three individuals.

It was shortly after 3:00 a.m.

when Barrie Police received crucial information regarding a vehicle reported stolen. Officers immediately sprang into action, their diligent search leading them to the area of Dunlop Street West and Anne Street. There, they successfully located the vehicle and observed three occupants inside, setting the stage for a critical intervention.

Upon engaging with the individuals, the subsequent investigation quickly unearthed disturbing discoveries.

Police seized a loaded .22 calibre revolver, a weapon capable of immense harm, alongside a substantial quantity of various drugs. The haul included fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, and cocaine – all highly addictive and dangerous substances known to fuel serious criminal activity within communities.

The three individuals found within the stolen vehicle were promptly taken into custody.

They are identified as a 20-year-old male from Barrie, a 22-year-old male also from Barrie, and a 20-year-old female, also a resident of Barrie. The serious nature of their alleged findings led to an extensive list of charges being laid against them.

Each suspect now faces a formidable array of charges, including possession of stolen property over $5,000, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.

Further accusations include possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm contrary to a prohibition order, and careless storage of a firearm. The discovery of drugs also led to charges of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, specifically targeting the fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine found.

Additionally, charges for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number underscore the gravity of the situation.

All three accused individuals were held for a bail hearing, where they will answer to the serious allegations brought against them. This decisive action by the Barrie Police Service highlights their unwavering commitment to removing dangerous weapons and illegal drugs from the community, ensuring the safety and security of its residents against such perilous threats.
