Deputies Open Fire on Armed Man During Labor Day Domestic Violence Call in Lancaster

Just after 10 a.m. on Monday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department got a frantic call about a domestic‑violence dispute on the 44,000 block of 15th Street West in Lancaster. The dispatcher relayed that a man, brandishing a handgun, was trying to force his ex‑wife into a vehicle.

When deputies arrived, the suspect had his ex‑wife in a headlock and the pistol was already aimed at the officers. According to the department’s statement, the man actually fired at the deputies, prompting a “deputy‑involved shooting.” The suspect was hit, rushed to a local hospital and, as of the latest update, remains in stable condition.

Fortunately, neither the deputies nor the woman were injured. Police recovered the firearm from the scene, and a witness who watched from a nearby home described the tense moments. “I could see him pull up, walk between the cars with a gun. They shouted, ‘Put the gun down,’” she said. “Another car pulled up, they kept yelling, and then… shots fired.”
