Delhi's Grand Diwali Vision: CM Kejriwal Directs Departments to Illuminate and Beautify the Capital

As the festive season of Diwali approaches, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken a proactive stance, rallying various government departments to ensure the city not only shines brightly but also maintains impeccable cleanliness. In a high-level review meeting, the CM issued clear directives, emphasizing a comprehensive plan to transform Delhi into a beacon of light and hygiene, enhancing the festive spirit for all its residents.

The meeting brought together key officials from critical departments, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Public Works Department (PWD), the Environment Department, and the Health Department.

Key directives issued during the meeting included a thorough focus on beautification drives across public spaces, parks, and major thoroughfares.

The PWD was tasked with ensuring all roads are in optimal condition, free from potholes, and well-lit. The MCD received specific instructions to intensify sanitation drives, ensuring markets, residential areas, and public toilets are meticulously cleaned and maintained. Special attention is to be given to waste management and the removal of debris, which often accumulates during festive preparations.

Lighting arrangements emerged as a central theme, with the CM calling for extensive and artistic illumination of government buildings, monuments, and key public areas.

This initiative aims to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors, making Delhi truly sparkle during the Festival of Lights. Safety aspects, particularly regarding electrical installations and public gatherings, were also stressed, with departments asked to implement necessary precautions.

The Environment Department was urged to focus on measures that can contribute to a healthier environment during Diwali, while the Health Department was directed to ensure preparedness for any health-related exigencies.
