Delhi Road Rage Horror: Man Arrested for Fatally Running Over Hotel Manager on Rao Tula Ram Flyover

A horrifying incident of road rage has once again cast a dark shadow over Delhi's streets, claiming the life of a 36-year-old hotel manager on the Rao Tula Ram flyover. In a chilling sequence of events, a minor car graze escalated into a deadly confrontation, culminating in the victim being deliberately run over by the accused.

The victim, identified as Narender Singh, a manager at a prominent hotel in Vasant Kunj, was returning home in the early hours of Sunday morning with his friend, Ankit.

Their journey took a tragic turn when their car inadvertently grazed another vehicle, a Creta, driven by 31-year-old Rohit Krishna Mahanta. What should have been a minor traffic incident quickly spiraled into a furious pursuit.

Mahanta, incensed by the slight contact, began to chase Singh's car relentlessly across the city's thoroughfares.

The high-speed pursuit finally came to a tense halt on the Rao Tula Ram flyover. Both vehicles stopped, and Mahanta, fueled by an uncontrollable rage, exited his car to confront Singh and Ankit. An argument ensued, its intensity rising with each passing second.

Amidst the heated exchange, Narender Singh stepped out of his car, likely attempting to de-escalate the situation or perhaps further engage in the argument.

However, Mahanta's response was nothing short of horrific. Rather than resolving the dispute verbally, he abruptly retreated to his own vehicle. What followed was a cold, calculated act of violence.

Witnesses describe how Mahanta first reversed his Creta, then suddenly accelerated forward, deliberately aiming for Narender Singh.

The impact was brutal and immediate. Singh was tragically mowed down, suffering grievous injuries. He was rushed to the nearby Safdarjung Hospital, but the damage was too severe. Doctors, despite their best efforts, declared him dead upon arrival.

The police were immediately alerted to the ghastly incident.

Based on the eyewitness account of Ankit, Singh's friend, a comprehensive investigation was launched. Law enforcement acted swiftly, tracing Mahanta to his rented accommodation in Vasant Kunj. Within hours, the accused was apprehended, and his vehicle, the Creta used in the fatal act, was seized as crucial evidence.

Rohit Krishna Mahanta, originally from Guwahati, Assam, and reportedly employed by a private firm in Delhi, now faces serious charges.

A case has been registered under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the escalating dangers of road rage and the devastating consequences of succumbing to momentary anger on the roads.
