Delhi Police Uncovers Massive Pan-India Fake Safari Booking Racket, Two Arrested

In a significant crackdown on online fraud, Delhi Police have dismantled a sophisticated pan-India fake safari booking racket, leading to the arrest of two key individuals. This illicit operation had been preying on the dreams of wildlife enthusiasts, swindling countless tourists who eagerly sought to explore India's magnificent national parks.

The alleged masterminds, identified as Sumit and Sachin, were apprehended after a meticulous investigation that spanned across various states.

Their elaborate scheme involved creating convincing, yet entirely fraudulent, websites mimicking legitimate tour operators for renowned wildlife destinations such as Ranthambore, Jim Corbett, Kaziranga, Kanha, and Bandhavgarh, among others. These fake portals were meticulously designed to lure unsuspecting travelers with attractive packages and seemingly authentic booking processes.

According to police reports, the duo would engage with potential victims through these bogus websites, communicating via phone and email to build trust and legitimacy.

Once a victim showed interest, they would be asked to make advance payments for safari bookings, accommodation, and other related services. The payments, often substantial, would be routed through various bank accounts to mask the trail and evade detection. After receiving the money, the fraudsters would simply vanish, ceasing all communication and leaving tourists stranded and their long-awaited wildlife adventures shattered.

The scale of their operation was vast, defrauding individuals from different parts of the country who had planned trips to diverse wildlife sanctuaries.

Many victims only realized they had been conned upon arriving at their chosen national park, only to discover their bookings were non-existent and their money gone. The emotional and financial toll on these travelers was immense, turning excitement into bitter disappointment and significant monetary loss.

The investigation was initiated following a surge in complaints from multiple duped tourists who reported similar experiences.

Delhi Police's cyber crime unit employed advanced tracing techniques, tracking digital footprints, scrutinizing financial transactions, and identifying IP addresses associated with the fraudulent activities to piece together the syndicate's intricate network. The relentless efforts culminated in the identification and eventual capture of Sumit and Sachin, bringing a much-needed end to their deceitful enterprise.
