Deerfield Endures Power Outages: When Will the Lights Return?

Imagine a Tuesday afternoon, the kind where you’d usually expect things to be humming along, but instead, you're stuck in silence. As of this afternoon, approximately 1,450 ComEd customers in our village are still patiently (or perhaps not so patiently!) waiting for their electricity to come back on. The storms that swept through our area left quite a mark, disrupting daily life and leaving a significant chunk of our community in the dark.

Now, it’s certainly not all doom and gloom. It’s worth noting that the crews have been busy, busy, busy! A good chunk of our neighbors, about 2,685 households, have already seen their power restored, which is a testament to the hard work being put in. ComEd isn’t just sitting around, either; they've deployed an impressive force of over 2,300 personnel across northern Illinois, all tirelessly working to mend the damage.

So, the big question on everyone's mind: when will the lights come back on for the rest of us? The utility is aiming to have 80 percent of the current outages fixed by noon on this Wednesday. And for the vast majority of remaining affected customers, the expectation is that power will be fully restored by 10 p.m. this Friday, July 31st.
