Davanti Enoteca Stays Put: No New Vasili’s Coming to Western Springs

When the village of Western Springs first heard that the space occupied by Davanti Enoteca might soon host a brand‑new Vasili’s, a few local diners were already picturing Mediterranean plates replacing the beloved Italian menu. The idea, floated by Scott Harris Hospitality, sparked chatter at coffee shops and around the town hall.

But, as of last week, that speculation has been put to rest. Village spokesperson Selmin Cicek confirmed that the renovation notice has been withdrawn and Davanti Enoteca will stay exactly where it is—800 Hilgrove Ave. In short, the Italian restaurant isn’t packing up, and Vasili’s won’t be opening a second spot in Western Springs after all.

Scott Harris Hospitality, the Chicago‑area group that owns both Davanti and Vasili’s, also runs a handful of other eateries. Their portfolio includes Mio Modo in St. Charles, Disotto in Highwood, Francesca’s Fiore in Forest Park, Vinny’s in Tinley Park, plus a string of Francesca’s locations across the Chicago suburbs. Both Davanti and Vasili’s already have a presence in Naperville, so the company isn’t exactly new to the region.

For now, Western Springs residents can continue to enjoy Davanti’s wood‑fired pizzas, house‑made pastas, and a solid wine list without the interruption of a construction site. The decision also spares the community the temporary traffic snarls and noise that usually accompany a big remodel.

It’s a win‑win for diners who love the current spot, and for the village that can keep its streets as calm as they were before the rumor mill started turning. If anything changes in the future, the village will likely issue another notice, but for now the Italian restaurant is here to stay.
