Coroner Confirms Accidental Overdose in Clark County Jail Inmate's Tragic Death

The tragic death of Michael Andrew Miller, a 40-year-old inmate at the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC), has officially been ruled an accidental drug overdose. The Clark County Coroner's office announced that a fatal combination of fentanyl and methamphetamine was the cause of Miller's untimely passing, which occurred after he was found unresponsive in his cell this past July.

Miller, who had been booked into the CCDC just days prior on July 25, faced charges including drug possession, grand larceny, and resisting a public officer.

His stay in custody took a dire turn on the morning of July 29, when detention officers discovered him unresponsive within his cell at approximately 3:30 a.m. Immediate medical attention was sought, and Miller was swiftly transported to University Medical Center (UMC).
