Claremore Zebras Reign Supreme: Unstoppable Volleyball Squad Sweeps Coweta Invitational, Baughman Shines as MVP!

The Claremore High School volleyball team delivered an absolute masterclass at the recent Coweta Invitational, leaving no doubt about their championship aspirations. In a breathtaking display of skill, teamwork, and sheer dominance, the Zebras stormed through the tournament undefeated, clinching the coveted title without dropping a single set in any of their five matches.

It was a performance that solidified their reputation as a formidable force on the court.

Leading the charge with unparalleled brilliance was senior Addy Baughman, whose exceptional play earned her the Most Valuable Player honors. Baughman was a relentless offensive weapon, consistently pounding balls past bewildered opponents and anchoring the Zebras' formidable defense at the net.

Her dynamic presence was a constant source of inspiration and points for Claremore.

The Zebras' path to glory was paved with decisive victories over a gauntlet of tough competitors. They systematically dispatched Coweta, Collinsville, Broken Arrow, and Verdigris, showcasing their depth and strategic prowess in each encounter.

The championship match pitted Claremore against a strong Oologah squad, but even they couldn't withstand the Zebras' relentless assault. Claremore closed out the tournament in style, defeating Oologah with commanding set scores of 25-15 and 25-18.

Addy Baughman's MVP performance was highlighted by her staggering statistics: a phenomenal 37 kills, a testament to her powerful attacking, complemented by 14 blocks, demonstrating her defensive might.

Yet, the Zebras' success was truly a collective effort, with numerous players stepping up to make crucial contributions.

Junior Madi Surmont showcased her incredible versatility, contributing 33 kills, dishing out 37 assists, and digging up 43 balls to anchor the defense. Fellow junior Lindy Albin was the orchestrator of the offense, racking up an impressive 71 assists, while also adding 13 digs and serving up 9 aces.

Allie Ramsey and Brooke Sherill were brick walls at the net, each tallying 15 kills and 14 and 11 blocks, respectively, stifling opposing attacks. On the defensive end, junior Cami Gibson was a tireless warrior, leading the team with 51 digs, keeping rallies alive and frustrating opponents.

Under the expert guidance of Coach Megan Glisson, the Claremore Zebras played with cohesion, passion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
