CISF Staff Return Lost Purse Worth $10,000 to Passenger at Mangaluru Airport

It was a typical busy morning at Mangaluru airport when a passenger realized her purse was missing. The bag, she later told reporters, held cash, jewellery and a few essential documents – altogether worth roughly $10,000.

Instead of panicking, the traveller approached the CISF security desk. The officers, trained to handle such incidents, immediately logged the complaint and launched a search of the terminal. A couple of minutes later, a young security staff member called out, "Ma'am, we found your bag!"

Turns out the purse had slipped off a nearby seat and was tucked under a row of chairs – easy to overlook but not for the keen eyes of the CISF team. After confirming the contents with the owner, they handed the bag back, much to the passenger’s relief.

Officials from the Central Industrial Security Force, which oversees security at Indian airports, said this incident highlights their commitment to passenger safety and assistance.
