Chhattisgarh: Elite Forces Neutralize Two Maoists in Abujhmad Stronghold; Operation Underway

In a significant development echoing the persistent efforts against extremism, security forces have successfully neutralized two Maoists during a fierce encounter in Chhattisgarh’s challenging Abujhmad region. The intense gunfight took place in the early hours of Friday, marking another critical step in the ongoing anti-insurgency operations within the state.

The encounter unfolded in the dense forest area near Tekameta-Kakur village, nestled deep within the Abujhmad region of Narayanpur district.

Joint teams comprising personnel from the elite District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) launched a meticulously planned operation based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of Naxalite cadres in the area.

During the exchange of fire, which lasted for a considerable period, two Maoists were killed.

Following the cessation of hostilities, security personnel conducted a thorough search of the encounter site. Their efforts led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including one .303 rifle and one 12 bore rifle, underscoring the preparedness and firepower of the neutralized insurgents.

Abujhmad, often referred to as a ‘liberated zone’ by Maoists, is a vast, largely uncharted territory spanning Narayanpur, Bijapur, and Dantewada districts.

Its rugged terrain and dense forests have historically provided a safe haven for Naxalite cadres, making operations in this region particularly challenging and strategically crucial for security forces. This latest success highlights the improving intelligence gathering and operational capabilities of the forces in penetrating these deeply entrenched strongholds.

The operation, however, is far from over.

As of now, search and area domination exercises are continuing across the region to ensure that no other cadres are present and to clear the area of any remaining threats or hidden caches. This incident comes shortly after another major breakthrough in Bijapur district just a week prior, where security forces successfully eliminated 10 Maoists, indicating a sustained and intensified push to dismantle the Naxal network in the Bastar division.

These successive operations reinforce the unwavering resolve of the security apparatus to root out Naxalism from Chhattisgarh, aiming to bring peace and development to the long-suffering tribal communities of the region.

The security forces remain on high alert, committed to their mission of ensuring the safety and sovereignty of the state.
