Chandigarh Bank Guard Targeted: Mobile Snatched in Daring Sector 46 Incident

In a concerning incident highlighting the persistent issue of street crime in Chandigarh, a bank security guard was relieved of his mobile phone by two unidentified snatchers in Sector 46 on Sunday evening. The victim, identified as Ram Chander, was en route to his duty at a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in Sector 34 when the brazen act occurred.

According to police reports, the incident unfolded around 9 PM.

Chander was walking through Sector 46, likely commuting to his night shift, when he was accosted by two individuals riding a motorcycle. The assailants, displaying swift and aggressive tactics, snatched his mobile phone before speeding away, leaving the guard stunned and without his personal device.

Following the harrowing experience, Ram Chander promptly reported the crime to the authorities.

An First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged at the Sector 34 police station. The case has been registered under Section 379A of the Indian Penal Code, which specifically addresses the offense of snatching. This particular section carries significant penalties, reflecting the seriousness with which such crimes are viewed by the law.
