Celebrating the Remarkable Life of June Anne Tryon: A Legacy of Care and Community

KENSINGTON, CT – It is with profound sadness yet a heart full of cherished memories that we announce the passing of June Anne Tryon, who departed peacefully on June 18, 2024, at the remarkable age of 93. A beacon of compassion, dedication, and vibrant spirit, June’s life was a testament to selfless service and unwavering love, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on June 1, 1931, in New Britain, June was the beloved daughter of Arthur and Margaret (White) Tryon.

Her roots ran deep in the community, where she cultivated a foundation of kindness and integrity that would guide her throughout her long and impactful life. June was a proud graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1949, where her intellectual curiosity and desire to help others began to blossom.

This calling led her to the esteemed New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing, from which she graduated in 1952, ready to embark on a career defined by care and empathy.

June’s professional journey as a Registered Nurse was nothing short of extraordinary. She began her career at New Britain General Hospital, where her gentle touch and keen mind immediately made a difference.

Her dedication extended into private duty nursing, offering personalized care to those in need, before she transitioned to a vital role as a school nurse within the New Britain Public Schools. Here, she nurtured not only the physical well-being of countless students but also served as a comforting presence and trusted confidante.

Later, June brought her extensive experience and leadership skills to Andrew House Healthcare, where she served with distinction as the Director of Nursing, guiding a team with her profound wisdom and compassionate leadership.

Beyond her illustrious career, June was a woman of diverse passions and deep connections.

She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether she was lost in the pages of a captivating book, meticulously tending to her beloved garden, or embarking on exciting travels that broadened her horizons. A spirited card player, she relished the camaraderie and friendly competition of a good game.

June was also an ardent fan of the UConn Women's Basketball team, cheering them on with an enthusiasm that was truly infectious.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational, in New Britain. June actively participated in the Mary and Martha Circle, served diligently as a Deaconess, and contributed her insights to the Board of Christian Education, embodying her commitment to her spiritual community.

Family was paramount to June.

While she was predeceased by her loving sister, Beverly S. Tryon, her spirit lives on through her devoted nieces and nephews: Elizabeth and Dennis Tryon, Arthur Tryon, and Stephen Tryon. She was a cherished grandaunt to Michael and Kimberly Tryon, Rebecca and Peter Perrotti, Matthew Tryon, and David and Emily Tryon.

Her great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, Eleanor Tryon, Benjamin Perrotti, Samuel Perrotti, and Oliver Tryon, will forever remember her warmth and affection. June also leaves behind an enduring circle of dear and lifelong friends who were like family to her, enriching her life with shared laughter and unwavering support.

June Anne Tryon’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of compassion, intelligence, and unwavering love for her family and community.

Her legacy of care, her vibrant spirit, and her dedication to making the world a better place will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be profoundly missed, but her memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain.

A funeral service celebrating June’s life will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 830 Corbin Avenue, New Britain. She will be laid to rest beside her sister in Fairview Cemetery.
