Celebrating India's Unique Heritage: A Deep Dive into Mysuru's GI Mahotsav 3.0

That's precisely the atmosphere that enveloped Mysuru recently, as the city proudly hosted the third edition of the GI Mahotsav.

Held over five bustling days, from October 26th to 30th, right at the esteemed Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), this wasn't just another fair; it was a grand celebration of India's unique geographical heritage.

At its heart, the GI Mahotsav, short for Geographical Indication, is all about recognizing and promoting those special products whose quality or reputation is inextricably linked to their place of origin. Think of it: the famous Darjeeling Tea, the exquisite Kancheepuram Silk, or even the delicious Alphonso Mango – each a testament to its unique locale. This particular edition, GI Mahotsav 3.0, was a collaborative effort, meticulously orchestrated by the Intellectual Property (IP) Cell, Karnataka, in close partnership with NABARD, the Ministry of Commerce, and CFTRI.

Their collective vision? To raise awareness, boost the market presence, and ultimately empower the countless artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs who pour their heart and soul into creating these distinctive goods.

Walking through the exhibition halls was truly an experience. Over 200 distinct GI products, representing the diverse tapestry of India, were proudly showcased.
