California Park Stabbing Leaves Three Injured Over Holiday Weekend

On the evening of Sunday, September 7, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of East Street in Salinas after a frantic 911 call reported a stabbing. By 5:17 p.m., police and EMTs were on scene, confronting a chaotic scene that looked more like a crime‑scene photo than a weekend park stroll.

The victims, three adults whose identities have not yet been released, were found with multiple stab wounds. One of them was listed as critical as paramedics rushed them to Natividad Medical Center, while the other two suffered serious injuries but were stable enough to be treated and released later that night.

A fourth person, apparently also struck, managed to hobble into the hospital’s emergency department on their own at about 5:23 p.m. That individual’s condition was not disclosed, but officials said they are expected to recover.

Police say the attack unfolded near Cesar Chavez Park, a popular spot for families and picnickers, especially during the holiday weekend. At this point, investigators have not shared any motive, and no arrests have been made. Whether the victims knew each other or if the assailant is still at large remains unknown.

Salinas Police Department is urging anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around that time to come forward. They emphasized that, despite the terrifying nature of the incident, all three injured parties are expected to survive.
