Bracing for the Chill: Metro Detroit's Frigid Start & Evening Snow Dusting

Gosh, wasn't that a wake-up call this morning? We're talking seriously, genuinely cold out there across Metro Detroit as we kick off our Tuesday, February 24th, 2026. If you've stepped outside already, you know exactly what I mean – it's an arctic blast, plain and simple. We're not just saying it's chilly; it's the kind of cold that makes your teeth chatter instantly.

We're seeing those thermometer readings dipping down into the single digits, even hovering right around zero in some spots as folks head out the door. And with the wind? Forget about it! Those wind chill values are making it feel absolutely brutal, well below zero for many of us. Definitely not the kind of weather you want to linger in, you know? Make sure the kids are bundled head to toe – hats, gloves, scarves, the whole nine yards – before heading out to school or daycare. Seriously, protect those extremities!
