Borgata’s $107 Million Makeover Kicks Off This September

If you were lucky enough to be in South Jersey over the July 4 weekend of 2003, you probably found yourself at the grand opening of the Borgata Casino and Spa. Fast forward 23 years, and that same tower is about to get a serious facelift.

Starting Sunday, Sept. 13, the Borgata will roll out a $107 million renovation that targets the original 2003 tower – the heart of the resort. The plan? Refresh roughly 2,000 guest rooms and suites, sprucing up everything from headboards to metal accents, while keeping the iconic Atlantic City vistas front and center.

The lobby, affectionately known as “The Living Room,” won’t be left out. Designers are swapping in plush, high‑end furnishings and new finishes meant to brighten the space and give guests a stronger sense of arrival. Think warmer lighting, more inviting layouts, and a dash of modern elegance.

Longtime partner Avenue Interior Design, which helped shape the tower’s original look and the recent B Bar revamp, is steering the creative direction. Their vision leans toward a contemporary, yet comfortably luxurious vibe – a sort of sophisticated “home‑away‑from‑home.”

According to Nik Rytterstrom, the Borgata’s President & COO, the overhaul is part of a broader push to keep the property feeling fresh for today’s travelers. “The tower is a major touchpoint for our guests,” he said. “This reinvestment lets us evolve the space while staying true to the energy that makes Borgata unique.”

Renovations will roll out floor‑by‑floor, with the first refreshed rooms expected to open as early as October. Corridors and elevator lobbies will get bolder colors, new artwork and an abstract‑mosaic‑inspired carpet. Meanwhile, the adjacent MGM Tower – formerly the Water Club – already received a $55 million makeover back in 2023.

Beyond the rooms, the resort is also adding a few new amenities: a luxe gaming area, a fresh Noodles restaurant, and an updated B Bar to keep the nightlife buzzing. Guests can look forward to a blend of familiar Borgata flair and a newly polished, comfortable feel.
