BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad Predicts Landslide Victory in Bankipur By‑poll

New Delhi – On a breezy Sunday morning, senior Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad stepped out of his office, brushed off a few stray hairs and spoke to a cluster of reporters about the upcoming Bankipur by‑poll. He sounded upbeat, almost giddy, insisting that the NDA‑BJP alliance was “receiving unprecedented support” from the local electorate.

“We’re out there, door‑to‑door, in every neighbourhood, knocking on every house,” Prasad said, his voice rising slightly as he gestured toward the camera. “Our workers are everywhere, and the people are responding. I can say it plainly – the NDA‑BJP will win the Bankipur seat by a massive margin.”

The party’s chosen candidate, Neeraj Kumar Sinha, will be pitted against Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraaj movement, on July 30. Bankipur has long been considered a BJP stronghold, but the presence of a charismatic outsider has stirred a bit of curiosity among political watchers.

Prasad, however, brushed off any doubts. “Our politics operates on a high standard. Development is the word of the day – we’re accelerating and intensifying projects across Bankipur. Roads are getting smoother, schools better equipped, and the youth are finally seeing jobs,” he added, his tone slipping into a more conversational, almost conversational, pause.

The by‑election itself was triggered after sitting MLA Nitin Nabin moved up to the Rajya Sabha earlier this year, leaving his assembly seat vacant. Nabin, who grew up on the very streets of Bankipur, recently visited the area and described his return as “more of a homecoming than a campaign.” “I was five or six, playing cricket in those alleys. Seeing the new roads now gives me a different kind of joy,” he told reporters, his voice tinged with nostalgia.

As the counting day looms on August 3, both camps are gearing up for a tight race. While the BJP rides on a wave of confidence, Kishor’s Jan Suraaj promises to tap into anti‑incumbency sentiments, hoping to turn the traditional vote map on its head.

Only time will tell whether Prasad’s optimism translates into a landslide in the ballot box, but for now, the political machinery in Bankipur is humming, and the electorate seems ready to make its voice heard.
