BJP Leaders Brand Rahul Gandhi a ‘Habitual Liar’ Over ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’

Telangana’s BJP firebrand N.V. Subhash tore into Rahul Gandhi on Sunday, calling the Congress leader a “habitual liar” for what he described as a fabricated campaign called Chhatron Ki Goonj. Subhash, speaking to ANI, said Rahul kept repeating that the Constitution and democracy were under threat, yet he was “opening a shop of love that is really a pit of corruption”.

“Is it really a ‘Mohobbat Ki Dukan’ or a ‘Bhrastachar Ki Khadan’?” Subhash asked, echoing the sentiment of many party allies who have grown weary of what they call Rahul’s alarmist rhetoric. He added that even senior Congress figures like Digvijaya Singh should be interrogated on the matter.

The criticism didn’t stop there. Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC jumped onto the bandwagon, branding the whole programme “jhoot ki goonj”. She urged citizens to look at the “development agenda of PM Modi”, likening him to a deity and questioning whether Rahul’s “Andh‑bhakt” talk resonated with the 140 crore Indians who, in her view, have witnessed real infrastructure growth.

On the other side of the aisle, Congress stalwart Jairam Ramesh seized the moment to turn the tables. In a post on X, he accused the BJP‑RSS combo of hollowing out India’s education system, saying they had “corrupted every institution”. Ramesh praised Rahul for “standing with students” and suggested that the youth’s growing confidence was a direct result of Gandhi’s outreach.

“The system feels threatened because students are asking questions and demanding accountability,” Ramesh wrote. “Now that Rahul is with them, that fear is fading and their voices are echoing across the nation.”

Both sides continue to trade barbs as the political heat rises ahead of the next electoral cycle. Whether Rahul’s student‑centric programme will gain traction or be dismissed as another political gimmick remains to be seen.
