BJP Honors PM Modi’s 76th Birthday with 108 Lamps in Shimla

‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ ceremony lights 108 diyas and launches a month‑long service drive

On his 76th birthday, the BJP lit 108 ceremonial lamps in Shimla, prayed for the Prime Minister’s health and kicked off a month‑long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ across Himachal Pradesh.

In the crisp morning air of Shimla, the BJP’s state headquarters turned into a sea of glowing diyas. The party staged a special “Ashirwad Ka Diya” programme to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday, lighting exactly 108 lamps – a number steeped in Indian tradition, symbolising completeness and blessings.

Hundreds of party workers, senior leaders and volunteers gathered, their faces lit not just by the flames but by a shared hope for the Prime Minister’s health, longevity and continued service. BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) Siddharthan presided over the event, while senior functionaries such as Kiran Bawa and Sanjay Thakur joined in the prayers.

Speaking to the assembly, BJP State Secretary Sumit Sharma traced Modi’s journey from a 2001 Chief Minister of Gujarat to the nation’s prime minister since 2014. He highlighted the “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision – an ambition to see India fully developed by the centenary of its independence – and urged everyone present to rally behind that dream.

“The 108 lamps are more than just light; they carry our collective wishes for a healthy, long life for the Prime Minister and the realisation of his development agenda,” Sharma said, his voice resonating across the hall.

But the celebrations didn’t stop at symbolism. BJP State General Secretary Payal Vaidya announced a month‑long “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” running from 17 September to 17 October. The campaign, she explained, will weave together blood‑donation camps, “Seva Jyoti” yatras and a host of community‑service initiatives, all designed to spark a culture of giving.

Under the banner “25 Years‑25 Minutes”, participants are encouraged to spare at least 25 minutes a day for service – a modest ask that, if multiplied across the state, could translate into a powerful wave of grassroots impact.

The ceremony wrapped up with a chorus of birthday greetings, the flickering diyas casting a warm glow as the crowd dispersed, each person carrying forward a promise to serve the nation in honour of Modi’s birthday.
