BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Laughing While an Elderly Woman Was Mocked on Stage

In a post that quickly went viral on X, BJP stalwart C.R. Kesavan took aim at the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that Gandhi shared a stage with people who openly mocked an elderly woman and even laughed at the whole episode. Kesavan described the hecklers as “cheap, vulgar trolls” who reduced the senior citizen to a “setting”, a phrase he said was meant to insult “Naari Shakti”.

The accusation, though not accompanied by video evidence in the post, sparked a flurry of comments. Kesavan suggested that Gandhi’s alleged chuckle reflected an “uncouth culture” that alienates the youth – a point he tried to link to Congress’s recent wipe‑out in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections. In his view, the party’s failure to connect with younger voters was not a coincidence.

To drive the contrast home, Kesavan brought Prime Minister Narendra Modi into the conversation. He recalled how, according to reports, Modi made sure a chair was provided for the same elderly woman when she appeared on a different occasion, framing it as a “thoughtful gesture”. By comparison, Kesavan claimed, Gandhi “indulges in revelry” when respect for seniors is being trampled.

The BJP leader didn’t stop there. He hinted that the incident was part of a broader pattern of what he called “crude circus shows” that the Congress prefers, suggesting a lack of seriousness in Gandhi’s political leadership. He also referenced remarks attributed to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, implying that even within the party there’s awareness of Rahul’s disconnect with young voters.

As of now, the Congress has not issued a formal response to Kesavan’s allegations. The episode adds another chapter to the ongoing tussle between the two national parties, each trying to portray the other as out of touch with ordinary Indians, especially the women and seniors who often become the symbolic focus of political narratives.
