Bengaluru Techie's Nightmare: Rs 48 Lakh Lost, Health Ruined by Fake Ayurvedic Healer

Imagine pouring your hard-earned money, nearly half a crore rupees, into a treatment you truly believed would solve a deeply personal health issue, only to discover it was all a sham. Worse still, your health deteriorates drastically, leading to serious medical complications and even surgery. That's precisely the nightmarish ordeal a 35-year-old software engineer in Bengaluru lived through, falling victim to an alleged Ayurvedic healer.

The individual at the heart of this shocking deception has been identified as Dr. Satish Kumar Reddy, who operated a clinic misleadingly named 'Dr. Reddy's Ayurvedic and Naturopathy Hospital' in J.P. Nagar. It seems the techie, seeking help for sensitive 'sexual problems,' stumbled upon an online advertisement for the clinic. Understandably, feeling vulnerable and hopeful, he reached out.

His initial consultation in March 2024 set him back Rs 15,000. During this visit, Reddy, exuding an air of professional confidence, reportedly assured the techie of a complete and lasting cure. What followed was a series of escalating payments that quickly drained the victim's finances. Over a mere three months, between March and May, the engineer paid an astonishing Rs 48 lakh in various installments – Rs 10 lakh, then Rs 20 lakh, and finally another Rs 18 lakh.

In return for this colossal sum, the victim was handed an array of powders, pills, and tonics, all presented as potent Ayurvedic remedies. However, instead of the promised improvement, the techie's health took a terrifying turn for the worse. He began experiencing excruciating pain and discomfort. Subsequent medical evaluations revealed a horrifying truth: he had developed severe kidney stones and kidney enlargement, necessitating urgent surgery. The very 'cure' he had invested so much in had, in fact, caused grievous harm.

It was a devastating realization for the software engineer. Confronting the gravity of his situation – the immense financial loss coupled with his deteriorating health – he lodged a formal complaint with the J.P. Nagar police. Acting swiftly on the complaint, authorities arrested Reddy, uncovering the full extent of his fraudulent operation.

Further investigation shockingly revealed that Satish Kumar Reddy was operating his clinic without any proper medical qualifications. He wasn't a registered doctor, nor did he possess the legitimate certifications to practice any form of medicine, Ayurvedic or otherwise. This tragic case highlights how unscrupulous individuals prey on those seeking relief for sensitive health issues, exploiting their trust and desperation for financial gain.
