ArtWalk Carlsbad Returns: A Weekend of Art, Music, and Ocean Views

Carlsbad is gearing up for its seventh annual ArtWalk, a free‑spirit celebration that will spill out over the famous Flower Fields on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, visitors can wander beneath the blooming dahlias while taking in sweeping ocean views.

More than 150 creators will be on hand, ranging from painters and sculptors to photographers, jewelers, and mixed‑media artists. The great thing about ArtWalk is you can buy a piece straight from the maker – no middlemen, no galleries, just a handshake and a story behind the work.

Live music will thread through the pathways, with local bands setting the mood for both early‑bird art lovers and the evening crowd that’s allowed to sip wine and beer in the fenced‑in adult area (21 + only). Hungry attendees won’t go far either – a curated selection of food trucks will serve everything from tacos to gourmet ice cream.

Families aren’t forgotten. The KidsWalk program will host hands‑on art stations, allowing children to paint, collage, and explore creativity under the sun. It’s a perfect way for parents to soak up the culture while the little ones make their own masterpieces.

“With some of the best views in the county, ArtWalk Carlsbad offers an outdoor art‑lover’s experience unlike any other,” said Curt Brooker, director of ArtWalk San Diego. He added that the festival’s proceeds help fund ArtReach San Diego, a nonprofit that brings affordable visual‑arts education to K‑8 schools across the region.
