Akhilesh Yadav Criticises BJP’s ‘Stagnant Thinking’ on the JPNIC Centre

On Thursday the Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav posted a fiery video on his social‑media account, pointing fingers at the BJP for what he called a "stagnant thinking" that hampers progress. The clip showed the newly inaugurated Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) – a building that finally opened after nine long years of delay.

"The stagnant thinking of BJP supporters only gathers moss or rusts away with mildew," Yadav wrote in the caption, drawing a stark contrast between what he described as the party’s "obscurantist" mindset and the modern aspirations of today’s generation. He went on to liken the BJP’s attitude to the “underground black history” of collaborators who once betrayed freedom fighters, suggesting that the ruling party’s outlook is a step backward for both history and the future.

Yadav didn’t stop at rhetoric. He accused the BJP and its ideological allies of failing to respect the hopes of present and future generations, warning that “neither the generations of history nor those of the future will forgive the BJP and their fellow‑travellers.” His concluding rallying cry was a simple, if emphatic, “End the BJP!”

The outburst comes hot on the heels of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s allegations of corruption against the Samajwadi Party. Speaking in Lucknow on August 30, Yogi claimed that the JPNIC project – originally sanctioned at a cost of Rs 200 crore – ballooned to Rs 864 crore while still unfinished. He further alleged that a committee linked to the SP, which included Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Dharmendra Yadav and Rajendra Chaudhary, tried to treat the centre as a private venture before handing it over to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA).

According to the chief minister, the committee was dissolved and the matter was transferred to the LDA under a “zero‑tolerance” stance on corruption. The dispute over who should control the JPNIC had already sparked criticism from Yadav in July, when he called the LDA takeover an insult to the legacy of socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan.

With the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections looming, the clash over JPNIC has turned into another flashpoint in the long‑standing rivalry between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party, each side using the controversy to rally its base and paint the other as either inefficient or corrupt.
