Ajay Devgn hopes for Mohanlal’s blessing on the new Drishyam sequel

While unveiling the trailer for “Drishyam The Conclusion” in Goa, Ajay Devgn slipped in a personal request – he wants the iconic Malayalam star Mohanlal to sit down, watch the film and, hopefully, give his seal of approval. The actor made it clear that the upcoming third instalment of the Hindi franchise walks a very different path from the Malayalam originals.

“The script is entirely new,” Devgn said, chuckling a little. “It’s not just a few changes. The story we’re telling now is fresh, even though it lives in the same universe.” He added that the challenge of creating a sequel after two successful films was huge, especially because the first two Hindi versions were inspired by Jeethu Joseph’s Malayalam classics starring Mohanlal.

Devgn didn’t stop at words; he invited both Mohanlal and director‑writer Jeethu Joseph to watch the movie. “Their reaction would mean a lot to me,” he confessed. “If they love it, that will make me very happy.”

The trailer itself shows Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay) still tangled in a web of secrets, this time facing a new antagonist – SP Rajveer Singh Tomar, played by Jaideep Ahlawat. Tomar is determined to peel back the layers of Vijay’s carefully‑kept lies.

Returning to the fold are Tabu as IG Meera Deshmukh, Shriya Saran as Nandini, and Rajat Kapoor. New faces include Prakash Raj, Kamlesh Sawant, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav, expanding the cast for what promises to be a tighter, more layered thriller.

Abhishek Pathak directs the film, also co‑writing it alongside Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. Produced by Panorama Studios and presented by Star Studio18, the movie is slated to hit theatres on 2 October 2026.

For fans of the series, the Hindi “Drishyam” saga began in 2015 with Devgn’s debut remake of Mohanlal’s 2013 Malayalam hit. The sequel arrived in 2022, and now the third chapter seeks to carve its own identity while still honouring the legacy that started it all.
