Agilent rolls out advanced lab tools for India's testing labs

Laboratories across India – from drug makers to food producers and environmental agencies – are feeling the squeeze. They need to crank out more tests, faster, without letting quality slip. In short, the pressure is on.

To ease that tension, Agilent Technologies unveiled a suite of fresh solutions in Bengaluru and Mumbai this week. The line‑up includes the brand‑new 9500 Triple Quadrupole ICP‑MS, revamped 8890B and 8860B gas chromatography (GC) systems equipped with a feature called GC Assist, and a digital Lab Execution System (LES) called OpenLab Sync.

The 9500 ICP‑MS is built for messy, real‑world samples – think complex pharmaceutical formulations, food matrices or polluted water. Its triple‑quadrupole design and interference‑reduction tech promise cleaner data and fewer headaches when you’re trying to pin down trace elements.

Meanwhile, the 8890B and 8860B GC platforms go beyond just delivering sharp chromatograms. With built‑in monitoring, diagnostics and the new GC Assist module, they can flag potential issues before they turn into costly downtime. The result? More runs per day and data that you can trust.

OpenLab Sync tackles the “paper‑heavy” side of things. By turning standard operating procedures into guided, digital workflows, it helps labs stay consistent, audit‑ready and less dependent on manual record‑keeping. For teams wrestling with staffing shortages or training new technicians, that kind of automation is a real lifeline.

The launch event in Mumbai gathered scientists, quality managers and industry leaders from pharma, food, chemicals and research sectors. Speakers like Mike Zhang, President of Agilent’s Applied Markets Group, and Bharat Bhardwaj, VP & GM for Asia‑Pacific, highlighted how these tools are meant to simplify—not complicate—daily lab work.

“Innovation has the greatest impact when it makes life simpler,” Bhardwaj said, noting that today’s rapid‑pace science demands solutions that let researchers spend more time discovering and less time troubleshooting.

All three products are now available across India. In a move to make support even more accessible, Agilent also rolled out a WhatsApp for Business channel, giving customers a quick way to get service updates, troubleshooting tips or just a friendly chat with the support team.

With these additions, Agilent hopes Indian labs can keep pace with rising testing volumes, stay compliant with tightening regulations, and ultimately deliver safer medicines, food and environmental data to the public.
