A Widow's Anguish: Pahalgam Terror Victim's Wife Slams BCCI Over India-Pakistan Match

Govind Ram, a dedicated truck driver, met a tragic end in August during a brutal terror attack in Pahalgam.

He was among those who succumbed to the indiscriminate firing of terrorists, leaving behind a devastated family, including Neelam Devi and their two young children. For Neelam, the wounds of loss are still raw, and the thought of sporting ties with a nation she holds responsible for such atrocities is unbearable.

Speaking from a place of profound sorrow, Neelam Devi questioned the priorities of the nation's cricket governing body.

"On one hand, our soldiers are being martyred, innocent civilians like my husband are being killed, and on the other hand, a cricket match is being organised. How can they think of playing against a country that is behind such heinous acts?" she expressed, her voice heavy with emotion. Her words encapsulate the deep-seated resentment and betrayal felt by many who have borne the brunt of cross-border terrorism.

Her criticism did not stop there.

Neelam Devi issued a stern challenge to the BCCI and, by extension, the government. "If they still play the match, it means they don't care about our martyrs. They don't care about the sacrifices made by ordinary people like my husband," she asserted. She highlighted the immense personal cost of such violence, revealing that her children are now left without a father, their future uncertain and shadowed by the tragedy.
