A Terrifying Dawn: Sisters' Harrowing Escape from Delhi MP's Burning Dwarka Home

A tranquil Sunday morning in Dwarka's Kaveri Apartments was shattered by a devastating inferno that engulfed the residence of West Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Verma. In a harrowing pre-dawn ordeal, two sisters, Muskan and Khushi, miraculously escaped the raging flames with significant burn injuries, while their beloved pet dog tragically perished in the blaze, leaving a community shaken and neighbors recounting a night of terror.

The fire erupted around 2:30 AM, plunging the usually serene complex into chaos.

Rajesh Singh, a resident on the sixth floor, was among the first to witness the unfolding disaster. Recalling the terrifying moments, Singh described hearing a distinct 'thud' followed by a 'boom' from the MP's first-floor apartment. "I immediately knew something was terribly wrong," Singh recounted.

"Within minutes, thick black smoke began billowing from the windows, and the entire apartment was engulfed in flames. It was terrifyingly fast."

Inside the inferno, Muskan and Khushi, the MP's nieces, found themselves trapped. Their desperate fight for survival saw them sustain severe burn injuries – Muskan with 20% and Khushi with 15-20% burns – as they navigated the smoke-filled rooms, desperately seeking an exit.

In a heart-stopping act of courage, faced with no other option, the sisters made a perilous leap from the first-floor window, landing on a railing on the ground floor. This daring escape, though injuring them further, ultimately saved their lives.

The tragic hero of the night, however, was the family's Labrador.

Despite the sisters' desperate pleas and attempts, the dog could not be saved from the escalating blaze. Its fate served as a poignant reminder of the fire's indiscriminate cruelty, adding a layer of profound sadness to an already traumatic event. "The sisters were screaming for their dog," Singh shared, his voice filled with emotion.

"It was heartbreaking to hear their cries as the dog remained trapped inside."

Emergency services responded with commendable swiftness. Within 10 to 15 minutes of the alarm, six fire tenders arrived at the scene, their crews battling the intense flames for hours. Their concerted efforts eventually brought the inferno under control, but not before the apartment suffered extensive damage, with furniture, appliances, and personal belongings reduced to ashes.

MP Parvesh Verma later indicated that an electrical short circuit was the suspected cause of the devastating fire.

Both Muskan and Khushi were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for their burn injuries. Their miraculous escape stands as a testament to their bravery and the quick thinking in a life-or-death situation, leaving behind a story of survival against the odds and the somber memory of a beloved pet lost to the flames.
