A Summer of Shine: Sensory-Friendly Theatre Camp Returns to Union County!

Guess what, Union County? That truly wonderful, free sensory-friendly summer camp for our special teens and young adults is making a grand return this year! It's such a fantastic opportunity for young people to really explore their creativity and connect with others in a supportive setting, and honestly, we couldn't be more thrilled to see it come back.

So, mark your calendars! This incredible program, officially known as the Sensory Friendly Theatre Camp, is set to run from July 8th right through to August 2nd, 2024. Campers will be immersed in the world of performing arts Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day. The buzzing hub for all this creativity? None other than the Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC) located in beautiful Rahway, New Jersey.

This isn't just any camp, mind you. It's meticulously designed for young individuals aged 14 to 21 who might thrive better in a sensory-friendly environment. Imagine a place where they can dive headfirst into the performing arts – exploring acting, movement, and voice – all while building essential social skills, boosting their confidence, and finding their own unique voice. It's truly a safe space for self-expression, you know, a place where everyone can just be themselves and shine.

The entire program is geared towards fostering growth, encouraging communication, and letting these incredible young individuals truly blossom, whether that's on stage or simply within themselves. And speaking of incredible, this fantastic initiative is brought to us by the Union County Office for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs, working hand-in-hand with the Union County Board of County Commissioners and, of course, the wonderful folks at UCPAC.
