A New Chapter for the Vance Family: Baby Alec Neel Arrives

On a quiet Sunday morning at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland, Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance welcomed their fourth child into the world – a baby boy they named Alec Neel Vance. The news, announced in a short statement from the vice president’s office, sparked a wave of congratulatory messages across the nation.

In fact, the Vances say a conversation with the late Erika Kirk – widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk – helped cement their resolve. Erika had often expressed regret over having only two children, a sentiment that, according to Usha, “heightened JD’s sense that there was a possibility of having another kid whom he could love as much as the three that we had.”

The birth arrives amid a recent string of high‑profile arrivals in the Trump administration’s inner circle.
