A Major Boost for B.C. Healthcare: 65 New Nurse Practitioner Training Seats Announced

British Columbia is taking a significant stride towards bolstering its healthcare system with the announcement of 65 new nurse practitioner (NP) training seats across three prominent universities. This substantial expansion, funded by the provincial government, aims to alleviate pressure on primary care services and enhance access to healthcare for communities across B.C., particularly in underserved rural and remote areas.

The additional seats are strategically allocated: 25 at the University of British Columbia (UBC), 20 at the University of Victoria (UVic), and a vital 20 at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC).

These programs are set to welcome their first cohort of students in the fall of 2024, promising a brighter future for healthcare delivery in the province.

Nurse practitioners play a crucial and expanding role in modern healthcare.
