A Life Remembered: Celebrating John Michael Tanzine III

It is with a profound sense of sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the news of John Michael Tanzine III's passing. A beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and a dear friend to so many, John left us on February 9, 2024, at the age of 49. His sudden departure leaves a noticeable void in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, a testament to the vibrant spirit he carried and generously shared with the world.

Born on November 2, 1974, John spent his formative years growing up in the Nashville area before making Franklin, TN his cherished home. He was a proud graduate of Brentwood High School’s Class of 1993, and later continued his education at Western Kentucky University. Throughout his life, John was simply unforgettable; he possessed a unique spark, a quick wit, and a truly generous heart that endeared him to countless individuals. He had a remarkable ability to light up any room, to make others laugh, and to create an atmosphere of genuine joy wherever he went. You just couldn't help but smile when John was around.

His professional life was deeply intertwined with the dynamic world of the music industry, a field he navigated with passion and skill for many years. John's career saw him contribute his talents to esteemed labels like Curb Records, Maverick Records, Warner Brothers Records, and the Big Machine Label Group. Beyond the professional realm, John lived a life full of enthusiasm for his favorite pastimes. Whether it was hitting the greens for a round of golf, casting a line while fishing, cheering passionately for his favorite sports teams – especially his beloved LSU Tigers (often decked out in purple and gold, naturally!) – or simply soaking in the atmosphere at concerts and exploring new places through travel, John embraced every moment with gusto. He genuinely knew how to live life to the fullest.

Above all, John’s greatest joy and pride was his cherished daughter, Olivia Tanzine. He was a truly devoted father, pouring his love and energy into her life. His memory will be profoundly treasured by his loving parents, John Michael Tanzine II and Susan Tanzine, who grieve the loss of their son. He also leaves behind his devoted brother, Andrew (Brooke) Tanzine, and his dear sister, Angela (Michael) Ewald, both of whom shared a deep bond with him. His legacy continues through his beloved nephews, John Michael Tanzine IV and Nicholas Ewald, and his adored nieces, Isabella Tanzine and Vivian Ewald. The Tanzine family, along with a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends, will forever hold John close in their hearts.

John was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, John Michael Tanzine Sr. and Josephine Tanzine, and Joseph E. and Mary L. Fendrick, who undoubtedly welcomed him home. To honor John's memory and celebrate his remarkable life, visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place the following day, Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Father Michael O'Bryan officiating. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Williamson Memorial Gardens. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, causes that resonate deeply with John’s spirit of generosity and care for others.
