A Grateful State Remembers: Sonia Gandhi Unveils Virbhadra Singh's Majestic Statue in Shimla

In a poignant ceremony steeped in reverence and remembrance, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi unveiled a magnificent statue of the revered six-time Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh, at The Ridge in Shimla. The event, held on November 14, saw a convergence of political luminaries, family members, and countless admirers, all gathered to pay tribute to a statesman whose life was synonymous with the welfare and development of the Himalayan state.

Sonia Gandhi, addressing the gathered crowd, eloquently hailed Virbhadra Singh as a "true Congressman" and a "man of the masses," whose unwavering dedication to the poor and marginalized was a guiding principle throughout his illustrious career.

She emphasized his profound commitment to transforming Himachal Pradesh through robust initiatives in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who also attended the unveiling along with Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and other cabinet colleagues, referred to Virbhadra Singh as a "leader with a vision." Sukhu underscored the immense contribution of the former CM in shaping modern Himachal, crediting him with laying the foundation for many of the state's current achievements.

Born on June 23, 1934, Virbhadra Singh's political journey was extraordinary. He served as Chief Minister for a record six terms, was elected as an MLA nine times, and an MP five times.
