According to the Connecticut Business Registry, Danbury added 154 newly‑filed businesses to its rolls in August. That’s a noticeable uptick, especially when you consider that a good chunk of them are still in the “paper‑only” stage – they’ve filed with the state, but many haven’t thrown open their doors yet.

The most common categories were, unsurprisingly, cleaning and building‑services firms, which together accounted for 17 of the filings. Right behind them were home remodelers and builders, plus a handful of trucking and moving companies – all the kinds of services that keep a town humming.

Among the more colorful entries was DMJ Liquor, a brand‑new bar that promises to add a splash of nightlife to the downtown scene. Not far off, Easb Music School signed up as a dance studio, ready to teach everything from hip‑hop to ballroom. And for the food‑loving crowd, Liberty Bakery entered the registry as a full‑service restaurant, aiming to serve both pastries and plated meals.

Nearly every new entity chose the limited‑liability company (LLC) route – 150 of them, to be exact. The four outliers were two professional LLCs and two other forms of organization, showing that entrepreneurs are still weighing the best legal structure for their ventures.

It’s worth noting that filing a business with the state is just the first step. Some of these 154 companies may still be polishing their premises, hiring staff, or waiting on permits before they can welcome customers.
