A Desperate Act: Man Ends Life at Tirupati Station After Missed Train

The early hours of Tuesday morning at Tirupati railway station were meant to be like any other, a bustling hub of departures and arrivals. Around 5:30 AM, on platform number four, a 35-year-old man, later identified as G. Ravi from Sonitpur, Assam, committed a desperate act that cost him his life. The sheer suddenness of it, the quiet horror, must have been overwhelming for anyone who witnessed even a glimpse of the unfolding tragedy. Ravi reportedly used a knife to slit his own throat, dying instantly from the self-inflicted wounds.

What could drive a person to such an extreme? According to initial reports from the Government Railway Police (GRP), a wave of despair, deep and consuming, appears to have been the catalyst. Ravi had arrived at Tirupati on the Secunderabad-Tirupati special train, numbered 07608. His intention, it seems, was to catch a connecting service, the Narsapur Express (Train No. 17247), which would take him onward to Narsapur. But fate, or perhaps a moment's lapse, intervened – he missed his connecting train.

One can only begin to imagine the crushing weight of disappointment, the sense of being utterly stuck, that must have overwhelmed Ravi in that moment. For reasons unknown, this missed connection became an unbearable burden, pushing him to a point of no return. Passengers and railway staff, going about their routines, were the first to discover the grim scene, their morning calm shattered by the sight.

The railway police were immediately alerted and swiftly arrived at the platform. They registered a case, as is procedure in such heartbreaking circumstances, and began the task of identification. Through his ID card, authorities were able to ascertain Ravi’s identity and later, with heavy hearts, inform his family of the devastating news. His body has since been sent for a post-mortem examination, a final formality in a life cut tragically short.
