A Cut Above: Rotary Club and Partners Host Comprehensive Health Camp for Vellore's Barbers

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and commitment to public well-being, approximately 100 barbers from Vellore recently benefited from a comprehensive health camp, a collaborative initiative designed to bring essential medical care directly to their doorstep. Organized by the proactive Rotary Club of Vellore Fort, in partnership with the esteemed Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre, along with the Tamil Nadu Hair Dressers’ Welfare Association (Vellore district unit), the Vellore Cooperative Wholesale Stores Society, and the Vellore Cooperative Urban Bank, the camp underscored a vital message: the health of every profession matters.

Held at the premises of the Vellore Cooperative Wholesale Stores Society, the event served as a crucial opportunity for these hardworking professionals to undergo a range of vital health screenings.

Often engrossed in their demanding work, barbers, like many in service industries, frequently find their own health needs taking a backseat. This camp aimed to reverse that trend, providing accessible and thorough check-ups.

Attendees received a full spectrum of medical services. Each barber underwent a general medical check-up, alongside specific screenings for eye and dental health.

Critical diagnostic tests were also conducted, including assessments for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels, all of which are vital indicators of overall cardiovascular and metabolic health. Additionally, ECG services were available, ensuring a holistic review of their well-being.

The initiative was lauded by various community leaders.

Medical expertise was generously provided by a team from Sri Narayani Hospital, including Chief Medical Officer Dr. S. Sivakumar, Dr. Vijayakanth, Dr. Subhasree, and Dr. Santhiya, whose collective efforts ensured professional and compassionate care for all participants.
