20-Year-Old Sudbury Resident Caught Stunt Driving on MR80, Vehicle Impounded

Greater Sudbury Police have laid serious charges against a 20-year-old resident following a high-speed incident on Municipal Road 80. The individual now faces counts of stunt driving and speeding, stemming from an alleged violation over the weekend that saw their vehicle clocking more than double the posted speed limit.

The alarming encounter took place on Sunday when officers with the Greater Sudbury Police Service observed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed.

Using their equipment, police confirmed the vehicle was moving at a staggering 130 km/h in a designated 60 km/h zone on MR80, a significant public safety concern given the area's traffic conditions.

As per provincial regulations designed to combat dangerous driving, the consequences for such an infraction were immediate and severe.

The 20-year-old driver's licence was automatically suspended for a period of 30 days. Furthermore, their vehicle was impounded on the spot for 14 days, creating a substantial disruption and financial burden for the accused.

The Greater Sudbury resident, whose identity has not been released, is now scheduled to appear in court on August 7 in Sudbury to answer to the charges.
