Yogi Adityanath Promises 1 Lakh Jobs for Uttar Pradesh Youth under Mission Rojgar

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, stood at the Lok Bhawan auditorium with a stack of appointment letters in his hand. He handed out 818 letters to freshly selected candidates from three different departments, marking the latest milestone of his ambitious Mission Rojgar drive.

“You can keep counting,” the CM told skeptical Samajwadi Party leaders, “we will still be appointing more than one lakh youths in the next six months.” He made it clear that the recruitment blitz was far from over – appointments for about a thousand more youths were slated for the following Sunday.

According to Adityanath, the numbers are staggering. Around 36,000 positions will be filled in the state police, while roughly 41,000‑42,000 spots are earmarked for home‑guard units. Those candidates are already undergoing medical and physical‑fitness checks.

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) is expected to release results that could bring 25,000‑30,000 fresh hires within six months. In addition, the commission plans another 20,000‑25,000 recruitments in the next three to four months. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) exams will likely reward another 15,000‑16,000 youngsters with government posts across varied departments.

When the appointment letters were distributed, a short film on Mission Rojgar played on the screen, showcasing success stories of youths who had already entered the workforce. The CM praised the integrity of the examination bodies, saying, “When commissions and boards stay clear of political pressure and conduct fair tests, the results reflect that honesty.”

He also reminded the audience that, to date, 9.5  lakh youths have already secured government jobs in the state. “Those who caused a ruckus before 2017 can keep counting; we’ll keep handing out letters,” he added, a thinly veiled jab at his political opponents.

Adityanath tied the Mission Rojgar expansion to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s broader vision of youth empowerment, emphasizing that the programme is a continuation of the state’s commitment to creating sustainable employment opportunities for its massive young population.
