Winnipeg Police Deliver Major Blow to Drug Trade, Seizing Drugs, Cash, and Weapon

Winnipeg’s ongoing battle against illicit drug activity saw a significant victory this week as police successfully executed a targeted operation, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal drugs, a cache of cash, and a dangerous air pistol. Two individuals have been apprehended and now face a litany of charges, underscoring the relentless efforts of law enforcement to keep the community safe.

The decisive action unfolded on Monday, May 13, when officers from the Winnipeg Police Service converged on a residence situated on the 1000 block of St.

Anne's Road. This strategic move was the culmination of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking within the city, meticulously planned to dismantle a facet of the local drug supply chain.

Upon entering the residence, police discovered and seized an alarming array of contraband. Among the haul were approximately 10 ounces of crack cocaine, 8.5 ounces of powder cocaine, and 3.5 ounces of methamphetamine – all highly addictive and destructive substances.

In addition to the narcotics, a substantial amount of Canadian currency, believed to be proceeds from criminal activity, was also recovered. Adding to the gravity of the find, an air pistol was also confiscated, highlighting the dangerous intersection of drugs and weapons.

Following the successful raid, a 42-year-old male and a 41-year-old female were taken into custody.

Both individuals are now facing serious charges in connection with the seizure. The male suspect has been charged with multiple counts, including three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (for cocaine, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine), Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000.

Furthermore, he faces charges of failing to comply with a probation order, indicating prior brushes with the law.

The female suspect also faces a trio of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charges (for cocaine, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine), alongside Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000.

Both are currently being held in custody, awaiting court appearances.
