Tragedy Strikes Near Lucknow: Six Dead, Dozens Injured as Bus Overturns in Early Morning Crash

A somber dawn broke over Uttar Pradesh today as a tragic bus accident near Lucknow claimed the lives of six individuals and left over three dozen injured. The private bus, packed with passengers journeying from Sultanpur to Lucknow, met with disaster around 4:00 AM.

Preliminary investigations suggest the catastrophic event occurred when the driver, reportedly overcome by sleep, lost control of the vehicle. The bus veered sharply, collided with a road divider, and then tragically overturned, trapping unsuspecting passengers within its mangled frame.

The scene was one of chaos and despair.

Six people, including two women, succumbed to their injuries at the crash site. An additional 35 passengers sustained injuries, ranging from severe to minor. Locals and the police swiftly responded, launching an immediate rescue operation. The injured were quickly extricated from the wreckage and rushed to various medical facilities, including the trauma centre and district hospital, where they are currently receiving urgent treatment.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of life.

He promptly directed senior officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care and that comprehensive relief efforts are coordinated efficiently. Furthermore, CM Adityanath announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of each deceased, Rs 50,000 for those seriously injured, and Rs 25,000 for individuals with minor injuries, offering a measure of support to the affected families in their time of immense grief.
