Tragedy Strikes Chhattisgarh: Dam Breach Unleashes Deadly Flash Flood in Balrampur, Claiming Four Lives

A somber cloud has descended upon Chhattisgarh's Balrampur district following a devastating dam breach that triggered a flash flood, claiming the lives of four individuals, including three young children. The catastrophic incident, which unfolded in the Kodaripara village of Wadrafnagar block, has sent shockwaves across the region, highlighting the severe impact of relentless monsoon rains.

The tragedy struck on Sunday when an earthen dam, overwhelmed by incessant downpours, gave way.

The sudden release of a massive volume of water transformed a usually innocuous nullah (drain) into a raging torrent, sweeping away everything in its path. Among the victims were a woman and three innocent children, whose lives were tragically cut short by the unforgiving force of nature. Their sudden demise has plunged their families and the entire community into profound grief.

Initial reports indicate that the victims were caught unawares by the rapidly rising waters, a testament to the swift and destructive power of flash floods.

Local authorities, including a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), swiftly launched a search and rescue operation. Despite their valiant efforts, the four individuals could not be saved.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his deepest condolences to the grieving families, acknowledging the immense loss.
